Trials and Tribulations
A test for mankind
One for every man and woman and child
A struggle, a quest if you will
You will suffer, you poor child
You will know hurt and insanity
If not that, then perhaps illness
Or maybe you will be the one
That cursed one who hears of it all
But cannot do a thing to change it
You will ache and beg for death every day
Glass will pierce your soul
Your heart will shatter a thousand times over
With no end in sight
Some will face less than you
And you will envy them
Some will face more
And you will wonder if your cause matters at all
You are to live through this
You will struggle and hate the world and cry
But you will not die
You are no
A chill in the air
A dry taste, gray and biting
Sharper than a blade
Cutting through flesh like butter
Unforgiving hands curled protectively
Trapping the world in her grasp
Ever closer, ever nearer
The world embraced by her icy shroud
But not even her cloak
Or those long delicate fingers
That take life away
Match the chill inside
That tiny body
That fragile child with porcelain skin
Soft like petals
Paler than a lotus
And colder than a corpse
